Crewe appoint two new members to the board

Crewe Alexandra Football Club has announced the appointment of two new directors to its board. Both have been long-term supporters of the Club and are successful, local businessmen.

Charles Grant, 57, is an IT professional who was founder and CEO of Pontis Consulting PLC Specialist Systems to major financial institutions in the UK and Europe. Subsequent to the sale of Pontis to Skillsgroup PLC, Charles held Executive positions on the board of Skillsgroup PLC and a number of non-executive positions until retiring in 2002. He now has a property investment business based in Nantwich.

Charles said: “I’m very pleased to be joining the board of Crewe Alexandra. I hope to add both an emphasis and continuity on the pitch and as a community club off the pitch.”

Lifelong Alex fan Ian Williamson has been a season ticket holder from the age of four and a season ticket holder for many years. He is a former dairy farmer having recently diversified into other businesses locally.

“I am delighted to be joining the Crewe Alexandra board of directors and would like to take the Club forward on the format that the present board has established,’ said Ian.

On the new appointments, chairman John Bowler commented: “In the rapidly changing industry in which the club now competes requires the directors to continually review the club’s organisation and aims to achieve short term success whilst having a long-term financially sound ambitious strategy, the composition of the board to evolve and deliver these goals is part of this progress.

"We look forward to Ian and Charles joining us and I am sure they will make a very important continued to the future success of the club."
