Bell: ‘We’ll galvanise and regroup’

7 May 2024

Crewe Alexandra players must group and galvanise ahead of Friday’s Play-Off Semi-Final second leg at Doncaster Rovers.

That’s according to Manager Lee Bell, who has told his players to refocus on the trip to Eco-Power Stadium (8pm).

Rovers won 2-0 in the first leg at Mornflake Stadium yesterday (Monday).

But Bell said: “It’s only half time.

“We have to galvanise and regroup. We’ve been in a situation when we have been 2-0 down with half a game to go - now we have a full 90 minutes and we won’t be afraid of going there and having a right go.

“I’ve told the players not to go home sulking – they can’t make the mistake of thinking this game is done.

“We are well capable of getting two goals or more in 90 minutes and we’ll make sure we make it a contest.”

Goals from Luke Molyneux and Harrison Biggins gave the visitors the advantage, in front of more than 8,000 fans at Gresty Road.

Bell added: “I thought the crowd were amazing and we started extremely well.

“The players started to show more confidence, but we made a couple of mistakes which have put them in the driving seat.

“I didn’t think it was a game of many chances but we could have done better with a couple of ours.

“Doncaster are very good at what they do and they were able to stay on top of the game with the experienced players they have, with more know-how.”
